Designed by You: Exploring Flattering Silhouettes for Ava’s Armour

I just finished meeting more of you at the Keenan Center’s Buckeye Made Market this past Friday from 11-1 PM, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the support and excitement around Ava’s Armour! I built a tri-fold poster board (that I’m absolutely in love with!) to showcase the vibe, inspiration, motivation, and support that have shaped this journey.

Seeing this community grow has been incredible, and it made me even more curious about what you truly want in our first prototype. So, I ran a little survey to get your input—and here’s what we came up with!

Your Top Silhouette Picks

When asked which silhouette you liked best, here’s what you voted for:

🥇 Option 2 (Wrap Long Sleeve) & Option 3 (Empire Waist Puff-Sleeve Tee)4 votes each
🥈 Option 1 (Asymmetric Fitted Tee), Option 4 (Structured Button-Up Blouse), and Option 5 (Empire Waist Tank)2 votes each
🥉 Option 6 (High Neck Fitted Tee)1 vote

One major takeaway? We prefer tops with sleeves for full sweat protection. It’s clear that having fabric coverage where we need it most is essential to feeling comfortable and confident. What Matters Most in a Shirt?

Beyond silhouettes, I wanted to understand what really matters when choosing a top. Here’s what you prioritized:

Flattering Fit – 6 votes
Comfort – 6 votes
Versatility – 4 votes
Detail – 3 votes
Breathability – 3 votes
Fabric Feel – 1 vote

Fit and comfort are the top priorities, and versatility is also key. This aligns perfectly with our goal of creating everyday sweatproof essentials that transition seamlessly between different outfits and occasions.

Tight vs. Loose? High vs. Low Necklines?

When it comes to fit preferences, tight-fitting designs won over looser silhouettes (46% of votes). However, when it came to neckline preferences:

📉 50% preferred a low neckline
📊 33% wanted both options available
📈 17% preferred a high neckline

A square neckline was the top choice over a button-up collar, jewel-high neck, plunging, or one-shoulder design. This makes sense—it frames the collarbones and shoulders beautifully while feeling modern and versatile. Another great detail to build off of the strong armour aesthetic we’re going for.

The Winning Combination

Taking all of your feedback into account, here’s what I see as the strongest combination of what we liked:

A wrap-style top – accentuating the bust with structured lines
A scoop or square neckline – to highlight sculpted shoulders
Short sleeves – to offer sweat coverage while still allowing breathability
An empire waistline – fitted at the bust but looser below for comfort

This design blends the best elements of our favorite silhouettes while making sure you feel confident and protected from sweat marks.

I’m so grateful for your feedback on this little test! It’s incredible to co-create something that truly fits our needs and style. Stay tuned—Ava’s Armour prototypes are coming soon!

What do you think of this final silhouette? Would you tweak anything? Drop a comment or DM me—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
